This Week’s Fashion Rundown: Modern Royal Flamboyance

Eighth Edition

Hey everyone.

Girl Overload here.

And boy, have I got a treat for you.

This week, because, I, Girl Overload, is bursting with ideas, you are getting two rundowns.

Last rundown I tried something new and wrote about Highbrow V.S. Lowbrow, this rundown I am going back to the fashion format to specifically write about Royal Couture.

Here’s a few quick steps if you really want to nail that look.

Step One: Instead of wearing glitterific tiaras, opt for a slightly more subtle headband instead. Learn from the best.

Headbands are still elegant and tres chic yet still being able to not look like a five year old playing dress up.

There are many different headband options in stores and online, so be sure to have a clear lookout.

Step Two: When in doubt, casualize an outfit. Casualizing means to take a formal/semi-formal outfit from online or in catalogue and to put a casual twist on it.

Here is a key example of casualizing. You’re taking a floral dress, but actually purchasing a floral top paired with some classy white jeans.

Casualizing is a great way to give royal couture a modern twist.

Step Three: Learn how to style outwear. Most, if not all of the female British royals have outerwear if one of their trademarks.

Purchase a black trench coat and mark your way from there.

Step Four: When in doubt, take inspiration from your favourite royale films. The Princess Diaries is a prime example.

Put all these together plus a couple of your own if you want, and there you have it, Modern Royal! Your own special look, so if you do realise that you are an heir to a foreign royal throne, these tips will be here to help get you started.

Don’t make me say I told you so.

Signing out,

Girl Overload.
