This Weeks Fashion Rundown: Parisian Chic

Second Edition

Parisian Chic. We all want to master it, or at least somehow follow it.

Here’s a little starter guide on the do and don’ts of Parisian Chic.

Do: Wear a trench coat. Trench coats are timeless, classic, and will never go out of style.

Don’t: Follow trends slavishly. If you genuinely like a trend, then by all means wear it. But don’t wear every trend spotted on the runway, Parisians are notorious for having their own unique style.

Do: Switch it up a little. Wear an oversized coat with skinny jeans, or a skirt and ballet flats instead of a skirt and heels. Learn to mix chic with minimalist for a true Parisian look.

Don’t: Wear blue eyeshadow. This one is practically a given. Wear makeup that suits your face and skin tone, and don’t cake it on like a clown.

Do: Have a wide range of handbags for every occasion under the sun. Handbags are crucial to a true Parisian’s style.

Don’t: Pile on lots on of jewelry. Lots of accessories piled on is very tacky, and in words of real Parisians, minimalist, minimalist, minimalist. Less is definitely more in this scenario.

Do: Have fun! Don’t take yourself too seriously. A true Parisian is confident, caring, and of course, très chic.

BeautyCON: The Full Truth

Hey Everyone, Girl Overload Here.

BeautyCon. What was originally known as a joyous occasion to spice up your beauty game and where you can officially meet charming beauty influencers just like you.

If you think that’s the full story, think again.

After all, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Because what used to possibly be one of your absolute favourite conventions is now a complete scam.

Countless influencers such as Sierra Schulutzzie claimed that they were being judged and “laughed at” by BeautyCON employees and other influencers and just generally being mistreated as a whole.

Sierra was also body-shamed and told by an employee “that she did not look like talent or a beauty influencer” just because of her clothing size.

How repulsive is that?

Another dreadful situation is that BeautyCON lied about Ethan Peters not attending the event.

Apparently, Ethan Peters made fun of influencer Thomas Halbert about his eating disorder, which is a serious condition. Not only that, but BeautyCon decided to invite Ethan Peters instead of Thomas Halbert to BeautyCON, knowing it would cause a complete and utter meltdown with beauty influencers and beauty fans alike.

BeautyCON also lied to customers about Ethan Peters not attending the event via text message, when he was clearly still up on the BeautyCon website weeks later.

Thomas Halbert also tweeted “Is there a reason you told me on the phone I had to apologize to the person who made fun of my eating disorder otherwise him and I won’t be able to attend? Yet he’s still at your event and I was told I can’t attend because I didn’t apologize and neither did he?”

Yikes.

Well, that’s all I have for now.

This Week’s Fashion Rundown

First Edition

Hey Everyone, Girl Overload Here.

Fashion. Love it or hate it, for countless decades fashion continues to take over the world by complete and utter storm.

Here my personal current do’s and don’ts with fashion.

Do: Wear what makes you comfortable and what you want to wear. Don’t dress to impress others: dress to impress yourself. After all, the people who you think may mock your outfits won’t be around in two, five, ten years down the road, will they?

Don’t: Wear cheetah print. I know, I know, I may sound a little hypocritical with what I just wrote before. But just remember, cheetah print belongs on animals, not on human skin.

Do: Wear stripes. Stripes are very in vogue currently. This particular pattern was also very chic during the fifties and sixties, with Audrey Hepburn being the most notable starlet to don the pattern.

Don’t: Give in to fast fashion. Yes, fast fashion may be all the rage right now, especially with teenagers (and I am one, so I should know) but fast fashion is pretty tacky and wears out over time. Purchase good quality, long lasting pieces instead, that you know will be still worn by people many years to come. And yet again, people, may laugh at you, but dress to impress yourself, not others.

Do: Wear florals. Ah, yet again, another timeless piece. Florals have been in vogue for almost every decade now (except maybe the 80’s) and a classic, traditional, yet still stylish pattern that suits almost everyone.

Do: Read fashion magazines for inspiration. Read new ones straight off the supermarket shelves and also flick through some of your mum’s old magazines too. You may find some hidden gems in there.
